VOICES OF VISION – a series of half hour documentaries on non-profit organizations for PBS stations nationwide hosted by NPR’s Scott Simon. Programs include: Boys Town, Orphan Foundation, CARE, Johns Hopkins, Institute of Medicine and more.

Programs written and produced by Robyn Symon:

CARE-The documentary highlights efforts of this international humanitarian organization dedicated to developing long-term solutions to ending poverty around the globe. Program highlights include a school for girls and work program for war widows in Afghanistan, a loan program in Guatemala, an HIV/AIDS health program in Kenya and the CARE CORPS volunteer program in Peru.

FORDHAM LAW SCHOOL- The Joseph Crowley Program in International Human Rights puts students on the front lines in the fight defending human rights around the globe. The documentary investigates human rights abuses against women in Ghana, Africa where women are forced to give up their homes after their husbands pass away. The program profiles women throughout Ghana, as well as tribal chiefs and local human rights defenders.

GIRLS AND BOYS TOWN- The famous home started in 1917 by father Edward Flanagan is expanding beyond the borders of Boys Town, Nebraska opening satellite homes and offering training to teachers and child care workers using a behavior modification program that has an 80% success rate.

FLORIDA MARINE RESEARCH INSTITUTE- Census takers of the sea are using the latest technology to monitor Florida's vast underwater world, studying reproduction habits of fish and migration of endangered manatees to protect and preserve the state's underwater treasures while balancing the demands of the sunshine state's most important economic resource.

THE ORPHAN FOUNDATION- Foster teens aging out of the foster care system have few resources to pursue their dreams and often wind up on welfare or worse on the streets or prison. The Orphan Foundation is a scholarship program designed to help kids thru college and mentors that provide emotional support.

JOHN HOPKINS - CENTER FOR A LIVABLE FUTURE - A non profit organization who mission is to create public awareness about the vicious cycle between what we eat, food production, disease and the impact on the environment. The shoot locations included Beijing China where health officials are growing concerned over the modern diet which includes fast foods.

INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE - Institute of Medicine- This division of the National Academies is responsible for groundbreaking reports including “Too Err is Human” about the medical mistakes at our countries hospitals. The IOM is a national resource for government leaders and the public providing unbiased scientific studies on the most critical health issues of our time.
