Transformation: The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard
Pop culture icon and the founder of the controversial est seminar pulls back the curtain on his life, his ideas and the 'witch hunt' that forced him underground.
|
The documentary, "Transformation: The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard" will have its world premiere at the Palm Beach International Film Festival in April 2006.
Werner Erhard, pioneer of the multi-billion dollar personal growth industry breaks a long silence about his ideas, his life and the controversial program est that made him a pop culture icon of the 1970's and 80's. With exclusive and rare footage you'll step inside his controversial est seminars, hear provocative interviews with peers, family members, participants and experts. Thought of as a fad of the 70s & 80's, viewers will be surprised, even shocked at how his ideas are still very much in the mainstream both in the United States and around the world.
Two-time Emmy winner Robyn Symon catches up with Erhard, now 70 years old, and shows us how he continues the work he began so long ago under the radar of the media maelstrom that nearly consumed him, his work, and his family. He allows cameras to follow him globe trotting, still transforming the lives of people, communities, and businesses. The documentary doesn't shy away from criticism about his controversial program, his secret past nor the "60 Minutes" expose and trouble with the Church of Scientology that prompted him to leave the US in 1991.
Was he a man on a mission to make a difference in the world or the mastermind of a get rich quick scheme? The film debates whether it's possible to separate the message from the messenger and takes a glaring look at how the media targets public figures leaving us with the notion that despite what you might think of him personally, that this now almost forgotten pop culture leader has left a lasting social legacy of personal transformation.
